Prophecy ... and the God of Prophecy.

Ever asked the question, Why Prophecy? Why in the Bible is there this form of divine revelation called Prophecy? We could answer and say that God in His grace and love wants His people to know certain things about the future ages and especially the end times, so that with confidence and hope they can go forward no matter what. We could also say that God in His mercy warns a disobedient and rebellious world about His wrath coming that they might flee from that wrath to Jesus Christ the Saviour. We could say that Prophecy is all about Israel or Armageddon or Anti - Christ or this or that. But have you ever considered that first and foremost Prophecy is all about God! Thats right it is a revelation of the nature and character of the True God.It is in fact God laying it on the line and saying to all, I am God and besides me there is none else for I and only I can tell you the future before it ever happens.

Consider these verses ...
Isaiah 41 v's 21 - 24 "Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. Let them bring forth, and shew us what will happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or evil that we may be dismayed, and behold it together. Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you."

Isaiah 42 v 9 "Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them."

Isaiah 46 v's 8 - 10 "Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure."
See also ... Isaiah 44 v's 6 - 8, Daniel 2 v's 20 - 22

God in these verses throws down the challenge to all 'deities' and those that worship them, Tell the future for if you are really divine you will be able to do it. But they cannot! But the God of the Bible can and has done it over and over and over again. What a wonderful God He is!

Lets Get One Thing Straight!

Today I begin this blog which will contain my thoughts on the great subject of THE LORD'S RETURN and BIBLE PROPHECY. I have an interest in this subject, as all Bible Believing Christians should, and it is never far from my mind so I thought it good to consider our Saviour's Return on this blog. BUT LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT, the Lord Jesus said clearly that NO MAN knows the day or the hour of His return. Lets look at His actual words recorded in Matthew chapter 24 v 42 "Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come" and in Matthew chapter 24 v 36 He said "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Other scriptures could be quoted but from these I take 3 points.

1. I don't know when the Lord will return.
2. No man (or woman) knows when the Lord will return.
3. I don't trust any one who says they do know when the Lord will return.

But Christ will return of that we can be sure. There are Prohecies concerning His second coming and there are Promises concerning His second coming and in the Bible there are Parables that teach His coming and Pictures that illustrate His coming. Also there are in the Bible Principles that should govern our lives in the light of His coming, and so I could go on. But Jesus Christ the Lord said in words so clear and unmistakeable that He was coming that only an old modernist or apostate or fool would deny this truth ...

"Behold, I come quickly..."
