Prophecy ... and the God of Prophecy.

Ever asked the question, Why Prophecy? Why in the Bible is there this form of divine revelation called Prophecy? We could answer and say that God in His grace and love wants His people to know certain things about the future ages and especially the end times, so that with confidence and hope they can go forward no matter what. We could also say that God in His mercy warns a disobedient and rebellious world about His wrath coming that they might flee from that wrath to Jesus Christ the Saviour. We could say that Prophecy is all about Israel or Armageddon or Anti - Christ or this or that. But have you ever considered that first and foremost Prophecy is all about God! Thats right it is a revelation of the nature and character of the True God.It is in fact God laying it on the line and saying to all, I am God and besides me there is none else for I and only I can tell you the future before it ever happens.

Consider these verses ...
Isaiah 41 v's 21 - 24 "Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. Let them bring forth, and shew us what will happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or evil that we may be dismayed, and behold it together. Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you."

Isaiah 42 v 9 "Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them."

Isaiah 46 v's 8 - 10 "Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure."
See also ... Isaiah 44 v's 6 - 8, Daniel 2 v's 20 - 22

God in these verses throws down the challenge to all 'deities' and those that worship them, Tell the future for if you are really divine you will be able to do it. But they cannot! But the God of the Bible can and has done it over and over and over again. What a wonderful God He is!

"Behold, I come quickly ..."
